Sept/Oct Test Drive Meme

Alpha Complex Test Drive Meme

Please feel free to take a Test Drive to see if the environment would suit your character! All potential players are welcome.

It may be your first day in Alpha Complex or your hundredth, either way, you are in serious trouble.

Scenario One
Your character has been accused of treason!

Whether the accusation is true or not, you are a wanted citizen!  Do you turn yourself over to IntSec (Internal Security) for questioning?  Do you make a run for it and go AWOL?  Will you fight for your right to exist or hole up somewhere safe until the chaos passes?  Do you become The Fugitive and try to prove your innocence?  Or are you guilty as hell and seeking help from friends or other parties who would be willing to assist you for a price?

Beware of the security cameras everywhere - some of which actually work - and being spotted by citizens who might be willing to turn you in to gain points with The Computer or to prove their own loyalty.

Scenario Two
Your character has been given the mission to hunt down a traitor!

It is your job to hunt down and apprehend the traitor by any means necessary.  If you fail or refuse, you might be accused of being a traitor yourself.  It doesn't matter if the person you are hunting is innocent or had good reasons for their treason.  It doesn't matter if their crime was major or some minor form of treason, Friend Computer wants their head.  You have twenty four hours to complete your mission.

Please post your character name and fandom in the subject line.
Work Together. Turn On Each Other. Survive.

Apparently almost anything and everything is treason here. After all, the only thing she can think of that she did wrong was know more about movies, television and books than the computer. Also, she would be super impressed with the freeze ray, and probably want to use it to freeze the red gel junk they eat. Maybe it's more palatable as a popsicle. You don't know. For sure.

She's really going to have to befriend Felicity and Cisco. After all, he's basically got a Marauder's Map and how cool is that?

Gracie isn't watching where she's going for the same reason. She's also panicked and winded and running out of steam, but she is running so when she runs into Cisco it hurts and it's hard and knocks the wind out of her. For a moment, she simply lays there gasping for breath with him on top of her. Even after he rolls off, she's gasping for breath, tears in her eyes because yes that hurt. She struggles to sit up, struggles to move at all because whoever this is poses a threat to her and she's got to get away.

Cisco seems to recover before the girl does and he feels terrible when he sees the tears in her eyes. "Oh God, I'm really sorry. Are you okay? I'm sorry," he says quickly, moving to try to help her sit up because she looks like she's struggling and he can hear the guardbot that had been on his tail coming down the corridor toward them. It's walking slow like a freaking serial killer in a horror movie, though, so they've got a little time and that's helpful, at least.

"Come on," he says. "Come on, let me help you. We gotta go. I gotta go, I'm being pursued," he explains, raising one hand and jabbing a thumb back in the direction of the oncoming guardbot to indicate by what exactly.

Honestly, it wasn't his fault. They both should have been looking. She shakes her head at his apology, trying to wave him off and it makes her feel a little better, a little less frantic to get away. She's just beginning to get her breath back when she hears the guardbot. "I'm okay," she gasps a little, pushing herself to a sitting position. This is going to hurt tomorrow, provided she's alive tomorrow for it to hurt.

She's about to dismiss him, brush him off, when he says that he's being pursued and she realizes he must be one of the traitors whose name had been called that morning with hers. She lets him take her hand and help her to her feet, watching him with a bewildered sort of expression.

"You're a traitor," she says with a bit of shock in her voice. "I am too," she says quickly. "That's why I was running. I'm trying to find some place safe to hide." If he wants to get moving in the middle of her speech, she will go with him now after realizing that he's like her.

Admittedly, Cisco's relieved to hear that she's okay. He feels bad enough running into her like that, but if he'd hurt her to the point where she couldn't honestly say that, he'd feel ten times worse.

When she blurts out the bit about him being a traitor, Cisco almost recoils before she tacks on the fact that she is, too. "Yeah, well, join the club. Honestly, who isn't?" he asks rhetorically, looking over his shoulder again. The guardbot is making good time in spite of its slow movements.

"Come on, I know a place, but we have to be fast enough to lose him and we're gonna have to take the long way," he explains urgently, grabbing her hand and all but dragging her along as he takes off again. Barry's going to kill him for this, he's pretty sure of it, but the only place he can think of off the top of his head that he knows is safe — assuming they can get there after losing the guardbot long enough to throw it off — is Specials HQ.

Honestly, she doesn't blame him. They should, at least, share the blame. Mostly, he knocked the wind out of her, which can feel like dying. Now that she's able to breathe again, she's feeling better.

That's why she tacked that bit on as quickly as she could. He manages to get her to crack a brief, tense smile with his comment.

She nods a little, trying to pick up her pace and run along beside him. "Thank you," she says while they're running. "For not leaving me there." Because there's plenty of people who would have, at least, left her there and, at worst, turned her in. She has no idea where they're going, but that action alone has earned her trust.

Maybe she trusts too easy or maybe it's just obvious that he's a kind, genuine person. Either way, she's gotten lucky running into him.

He's leading her through the twists and turns of the Complex he's taught himself in the instance that he'd need them — an instance just such as this — and he doesn't look over at her when she speaks, because he doesn't know whether she's looking at him and the last thing they need is for him to run them both into a wall because, once again, neither of them is paying enough attention.

"I'd be such a piece of crap person if I just left you there," he replies breathlessly, pulling her a little as they whip around a turn he forgets is there until he's practically on top of it. "Sorry."

He probably should've left her there, because there's no guarantee she's safe and there's that pesky little part where she's slowing him down juuust a little bit. Not because she's slow, but because he hesitates and second guesses himself a little because he isn't alone.

Rounding another turn, this time less sharp, Cisco pushes her back against a wall and presses his own back against it beside her, one arm out in front of her chest to keep her from moving as he peeks cautiously around the corner to make sure they're effectively lost the guardbot.

It's okay, she's not looking at him as she speaks either. Right now, looking where she's going is so much more important.

"Yeah, if you haven't noticed, there's a lot of those here," Gracie responds. The sharp turn surprises her and she's glad that he's got ahold of her. She would have stumbled otherwise. She shakes her head and murmurs an 's'okay'. If she knew him better, she'd tease him a little and tell him that he should be, but she doesn't and she's actually reasonably terrified right now.

She's safer now than she would have been gasping for air on the ground. She's grateful for his guidance. She'd be lost without him and end up doubling back on herself.

A 'oof' of air escapes her when he presses her back against the wall. She even turns her head, pressing her cheek against the wall so that she's watching him. She could have turned her head the other way, but she wouldn't have been able to see anything and she's have very little to look at, to distract her from their impending doom. She closes her eyes, feeling as if she ought to murmur a little prayer and if all of this is a glitch how does she even know about prayer? It makes no sense at all, which is entirely off topic and not the point. Her eyes fly open and she focuses on Cisco instead. Finally, she works up the courage to ask "did we lose it?"

A lot of what, he wonders for a second before it clicks. Crappy people. Yeah, he supposes that's true in Alpha Complex. "We're not all crappy," he promises. There's always the Specials. They're not crappy. At least, most of them aren't. Root sucks ass, but other than that, he likes people well enough.

Cisco doesn't see the guardbot and he doesn't hear the metallic sounds of its movement, so he lets out the breath he didn't realize he'd been holding and he nods a little, leaning his head back against the wall to catch his breath for a second. "Yeah, I think we lost it. Gimme a sec to catch my breath; we've got more running to do, just in case," he warns. It's better to get there faster, Cisco thinks, than to take the risk that the guardbot ends up catching up with them anyway while they're resting on their laurels.

She should have been more specific really, but they're running for their lives. She risks a glance over at him. "Well, I know at least one isn't." It's almost fond when she says it. Saving her is totally a way to earn her friendship.

She relaxes when he says that they've lost it and even more so when he says he needs to catch his breath. In fact, she sort of slides down the wall to sit for a moment, head back. For the first time since they started running, it occurs to her that she probably looks like a crazy lady with her hair gone all curly and frizzy. She pushes it off her face and tries to twist it up into a knot on top of her head. "I'm okay with running more. In a second," she finally says just to let him know that she's not going to hold him back or whine about running.

If they weren't in such a garbage situation right now, Cisco might actually try to flirt with her after a comment like that. How could he not want to, you know? She's beautiful and she's right there, he's only a man, after all.

He looks over briefly when he hears her moving and, actually, he can't help thinking that's kind of a good idea. So he follows suit, because that's probably a better way to get to a resting heart rate faster, anyway, right?

"We're nearly there, so there is that, at least," he says between breaths, offering a weak smile. "...I'm Cisco, by the way."

If they survive this, she will welcome the flirting. She's not really in the right frame of mind to think about flirting and honestly this is the first time in her entire life that she's ever been in life threatening danger. However, once she's no longer in danger, she will find Cisco incredibly good looking and hi, also sweet.

She's pretty sure there's scientific evidence about getting your heart lower than your knees or your feet or...okay, she can't remember. Life threatening danger, remember?

"I could hug you right now. I feel like I've been running since they announced my name earlier." She offers him a smile. She's breathless, but the smile is genuine none the less. "Gracie and it is really nice to meet you."

Cisco's still sort of panting for breath when the girl responds and he huffs a laugh on one of his exhales at her comment, looking straight ahead. "I mean...I wouldn't be mad," he says nonchalantly before looking back at her again and, when he does, there's a pretty clear grin on his face.

Okay well maybe he might still be trying to flirt a little. Cisco fancies himself a ladies man and she opened the door to it. How could he not?

"Nice to meet you, too, Gracie," he agrees, leaning his head back against the wall again. He's still tired, but they really should get going. With a heavy huff, Cisco suddenly pushes himself to his feet, pushing away from the wall and he turns to her, offering her a hand. "I'm still wasted tired and I'm sure you are, too, but we gotta go. Come on, we can lay around on the floor and whine like big babies about how exhausted we are and poor us in like five minutes, I promise."

Oh, see. That grin is adorable and if they weren't running for their lives, Gracie would be charmed. Actually, she's charmed anyway.

She's not complaining. It's certainly a distraction from the impending doom.

When he starts to get up, she sighs and starts to get up as well, looking up to take his hand when he offers it. "I'm going to hold you too that," she tells him, ready to start running when he is.

"Good, I hope you do," Cisco says. She gets to her feet with his help and Cisco takes one more look around the corner to be sure. Still no guardbot. Here's to hoping that they've officially lost it.

Cisco takes a deep breath and lets it out in a huff as if preparing himself and then he looks back at Gracie. "Ready? Because here goes nothing." And then, giving her hand a little squeeze but without letting go of her, Cisco takes off. The sooner they get to HQ, the better.

((ooc: we can keep going to get them to HQ if you want but this could be a good ftb too, so respond if you feel so inclined or else we can call it done, up to you!))
