Sept/Oct Test Drive Meme

Alpha Complex Test Drive Meme
Please feel free to take a Test Drive to see if the environment would suit your character! All potential players are welcome.
It may be your first day in Alpha Complex or your hundredth, either way, you are in serious trouble.
Scenario One
Your character has been accused of treason!
Whether the accusation is true or not, you are a wanted citizen! Do you turn yourself over to IntSec (Internal Security) for questioning? Do you make a run for it and go AWOL? Will you fight for your right to exist or hole up somewhere safe until the chaos passes? Do you become The Fugitive and try to prove your innocence? Or are you guilty as hell and seeking help from friends or other parties who would be willing to assist you for a price?
Beware of the security cameras everywhere - some of which actually work - and being spotted by citizens who might be willing to turn you in to gain points with The Computer or to prove their own loyalty.
Scenario Two
Your character has been given the mission to hunt down a traitor!
It is your job to hunt down and apprehend the traitor by any means necessary. If you fail or refuse, you might be accused of being a traitor yourself. It doesn't matter if the person you are hunting is innocent or had good reasons for their treason. It doesn't matter if their crime was major or some minor form of treason, Friend Computer wants their head. You have twenty four hours to complete your mission.
Work Together. Turn On Each Other. Survive.

That's why she tacked that bit on as quickly as she could. He manages to get her to crack a brief, tense smile with his comment.
She nods a little, trying to pick up her pace and run along beside him. "Thank you," she says while they're running. "For not leaving me there." Because there's plenty of people who would have, at least, left her there and, at worst, turned her in. She has no idea where they're going, but that action alone has earned her trust.
Maybe she trusts too easy or maybe it's just obvious that he's a kind, genuine person. Either way, she's gotten lucky running into him.

"I'd be such a piece of crap person if I just left you there," he replies breathlessly, pulling her a little as they whip around a turn he forgets is there until he's practically on top of it. "Sorry."
He probably should've left her there, because there's no guarantee she's safe and there's that pesky little part where she's slowing him down juuust a little bit. Not because she's slow, but because he hesitates and second guesses himself a little because he isn't alone.
Rounding another turn, this time less sharp, Cisco pushes her back against a wall and presses his own back against it beside her, one arm out in front of her chest to keep her from moving as he peeks cautiously around the corner to make sure they're effectively lost the guardbot.

"Yeah, if you haven't noticed, there's a lot of those here," Gracie responds. The sharp turn surprises her and she's glad that he's got ahold of her. She would have stumbled otherwise. She shakes her head and murmurs an 's'okay'. If she knew him better, she'd tease him a little and tell him that he should be, but she doesn't and she's actually reasonably terrified right now.
She's safer now than she would have been gasping for air on the ground. She's grateful for his guidance. She'd be lost without him and end up doubling back on herself.
A 'oof' of air escapes her when he presses her back against the wall. She even turns her head, pressing her cheek against the wall so that she's watching him. She could have turned her head the other way, but she wouldn't have been able to see anything and she's have very little to look at, to distract her from their impending doom. She closes her eyes, feeling as if she ought to murmur a little prayer and if all of this is a glitch how does she even know about prayer? It makes no sense at all, which is entirely off topic and not the point. Her eyes fly open and she focuses on Cisco instead. Finally, she works up the courage to ask "did we lose it?"

Cisco doesn't see the guardbot and he doesn't hear the metallic sounds of its movement, so he lets out the breath he didn't realize he'd been holding and he nods a little, leaning his head back against the wall to catch his breath for a second. "Yeah, I think we lost it. Gimme a sec to catch my breath; we've got more running to do, just in case," he warns. It's better to get there faster, Cisco thinks, than to take the risk that the guardbot ends up catching up with them anyway while they're resting on their laurels.

She relaxes when he says that they've lost it and even more so when he says he needs to catch his breath. In fact, she sort of slides down the wall to sit for a moment, head back. For the first time since they started running, it occurs to her that she probably looks like a crazy lady with her hair gone all curly and frizzy. She pushes it off her face and tries to twist it up into a knot on top of her head. "I'm okay with running more. In a second," she finally says just to let him know that she's not going to hold him back or whine about running.
no subject
He looks over briefly when he hears her moving and, actually, he can't help thinking that's kind of a good idea. So he follows suit, because that's probably a better way to get to a resting heart rate faster, anyway, right?
"We're nearly there, so there is that, at least," he says between breaths, offering a weak smile. "...I'm Cisco, by the way."
no subject
She's pretty sure there's scientific evidence about getting your heart lower than your knees or your feet or...okay, she can't remember. Life threatening danger, remember?
"I could hug you right now. I feel like I've been running since they announced my name earlier." She offers him a smile. She's breathless, but the smile is genuine none the less. "Gracie and it is really nice to meet you."
no subject
Okay well maybe he might still be trying to flirt a little. Cisco fancies himself a ladies man and she opened the door to it. How could he not?
"Nice to meet you, too, Gracie," he agrees, leaning his head back against the wall again. He's still tired, but they really should get going. With a heavy huff, Cisco suddenly pushes himself to his feet, pushing away from the wall and he turns to her, offering her a hand. "I'm still wasted tired and I'm sure you are, too, but we gotta go. Come on, we can lay around on the floor and whine like big babies about how exhausted we are and poor us in like five minutes, I promise."
no subject
She's not complaining. It's certainly a distraction from the impending doom.
When he starts to get up, she sighs and starts to get up as well, looking up to take his hand when he offers it. "I'm going to hold you too that," she tells him, ready to start running when he is.
no subject
Cisco takes a deep breath and lets it out in a huff as if preparing himself and then he looks back at Gracie. "Ready? Because here goes nothing." And then, giving her hand a little squeeze but without letting go of her, Cisco takes off. The sooner they get to HQ, the better.
((ooc: we can keep going to get them to HQ if you want but this could be a good ftb too, so respond if you feel so inclined or else we can call it done, up to you!))
