APRIL/MAY Test Drive Meme

Alpha Complex Test Drive Meme

Please feel free to take a Test Drive to see if the environment would suit your character! All potential players are welcome.

1) You have just woken on a table in one of the city's Cloning Facilities.

You have just woken on a table in one of the city's Cloning Facilities. You are the Prime, or first clone of your kind and the scientists are particularly smug about how you turned out because they reconstructed your DNA based almost entirely on historical records. You are their newest and greatest creation.

You are immediately sedated, given a red jumpsuit and ID card and ushered to a huge room that is lined wall to wall with cubicles. You are given a number and are told to wait. The sedative slowly wears off and by the time you get called to a cubicle you have many questions. The citizen that processes you in is wearing Green and explains matter-of-factly that all of those memories in your mind are in fact a glitch. You were never meant to remember a past life. Your new life is here, as a Troubleshooter for The Computer. The best thing you can do is ignore the glitch and serve The Computer and Alpha Complex to the best of your abilities.

If you continue to argue, you will be escorted to a room with no windows and a single, unbreakable vidscreen. There you will watch The History of Alpha Complex, narrated by popular Talk Show Host, Teela O'Malley, as many times or as many hours as it takes for you to accept reality.

When you have been thoroughly educated, you sign a seemingly never ending stack of paperwork. The Green clearance bureaucrat then hands you a Mercantile Enterprise (ME) card and a Personal Digital Companion (PDC) and you are sent on your way. You have 24 hours to assimilate to the Complex before you must report for duty at 0800 hours at Internal Security Headquarters in the IE Sector.

2) It may be your first day in Alpha Complex or your hundredth, either way, you are in serious trouble.

In a bid to win sympathy and new recruits, the Frankenstein Destroyers - a secret society within Alpha who sees all bots as enemies, has uploaded a virus that is affecting all bots within the complex.

For the next twenty four hours, every bot you see will be the enemy. Your assigned Personal Digital Companion(PDC), a personal communication device, has turned on you and is intentionally misfiring your texts, phone calls and videos. The Bouncy Bubble Beverage machine in the cafeteria is shooting out bottles at passers by at high speeds. The high tech vacuum cleaner used to vacuum your clearance level's common room is attempting to suck up everything in sight. Elevators are trying to coerce people to climb out, so they can behead them. That adorable Petbot you purchased last week is trying to tear your throat out. That Guardbot from the Armed Services Sector is attempting to take out citizens, one by one. Autocars are driving themselves, right onto sidewalks and through windows...

Will you fight for your right to exist or hole up somewhere safe until the chaos passes?

Do not fear, citizen! The Computer and it's high advisors are working to restore order.

In the meantime, be safe and beware of bots and traitors!

3) Your character has been accused of treason!

Whether the accusation is true or not, you are a wanted citizen! Do you turn yourself over to IntSec (Internal Security) for questioning? Do you make a run for it and go AWOL? Will you fight for your right to exist or hole up somewhere safe until the chaos passes? Do you become The Fugitive and try to prove your innocence? Or are you guilty as hell and seeking help from friends or other parties who would be willing to assist you for a price?

Beware of the security cameras everywhere - some of which actually work - and being spotted by citizens who might be willing to turn you in to gain points with The Computer or to prove their own loyalty.

4) Your character has been given the mission to hunt down a traitor!

It is your job to hunt down and apprehend the traitor by any means necessary. If you fail or refuse, you might be accused of being a traitor yourself. It doesn't matter if the person you are hunting is innocent or had good reasons for their treason. It doesn't matter if their crime was major or some minor form of treason, Friend Computer wants their head. You have twenty four hours to complete your mission.

Feel free to explore the Complex, but beware!  Traitors are everywhere.

Please post your character name and fandom in the subject line.
Mingle Together.  Explore Together.  Adventure Together.

Ianto Jones | Torchwood

Hello?

[The endless paperwork had been a trial in itself for someone used to taking care of things like that. Shoved out into the hallway, Ianto could only look around himself for the first time and try to get his sluggish drugged mind to tell him where he was and what he was seeing. The card and device were held in his hands as he tried to reconcile what he remembered with where he was now.]

[He had died in the House of the Dead for the final time so far as he remembered, but here he is now. Alive. Breathing. Craving some good tea or coffee.]

[But he looks down to the device in his hands. Maybe what he remembered in fragments is a lie. Ianto Jones is suffering a memory glitch that he needs to get over and help the computer as he's been told to. There was no Torchwood, no Jack Harkness or Owen or Tosh or anyone else. He's supposed to take care of the The Computer and Alpha Complex instead of some imaginary organisation his mind has come up with.]

[None of what he remembers is real. He has to remember that.]

I have to find my room.

[Because that is reality and better than falling prey to the lie that he had been or existed somewhere else other than here.]
